Pine Ridge Baptist Church
Women on Missions
Who We Are
Women On Missions (WOM) is the missions arm of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU)
at Pine Ridge, and our purpose may be summed up in one word - MISSIONS!
Through WOM, our women pray, give to mission work, and participate in
local mission projects. In our meetings, we learn about ongoing
Southern Baptist missions and strive to grow spiritually toward a
missions-oriented lifestyle. As a group, we are active
participants in church missions and local outreach as well as the
work of the Tar River Association and the denomination.Projects
One
of our ongoing projects is the support of "Safe Space," a shelter for
victims of domestic violence here in Franklin County. We raise
funds through periodic meals for the church family, and we also collect
canned goods and cleaning supplies for the shelter.
In
addition, we work with the Baptist Men to bring the annual health fair
to the community each spring and a crafts auction in the fall to raise
money for denominational mission work. (If you have not done so
already, be sure to check out the Health Fair slide show on the Church Family page!)
We
are also in the process of collecting favorite recipes for a cookbook
that will be sold as a fundraiser for the World Hunger ministry of
Southern Baptists. If you have a favorite recipe you'd like to
share, click on the "Contact Us" link and send it our way. We are
always looking for local favorites... no matter where local may be!
Finally, WOM spearheads the churchwide Lottie Moon Christmas and Annie Armstrong Easter offerings for domestic and foreign missions.
Come Join Us!
We
meet the second Sunday night of each month at 6:00 P.M. at the
church. If you are a woman with a herat for missions, we'd love
to have you drop by for a visit.
